The Brow Lift Blog

You wouldn’t realize how unique and fascinating an eyebrow really is. We don’t always acknowledge how crucial the brow is to the entire expression of the face or the mood we are projecting. Depending on the brows, we may be perceived as angry, shocked, pleased, or calm. Especially when manipulating the brow and forehead with botox, we must account for the personality, the adaptability, and the desired aesthetic of the brow.

Botox can be deeply impactful to the brow. The brow is not attached to any bone, it’s only dictated by muscles. So, when you start manipulating the muscles with the botox, you will manipulate the shape and positioning of the brow. They aren’t anchored by their attachment to a bone. Therefore, the entire shape of the brow is adaptable to the injection.

This area is very subtle, and nuanced. Several studies exist that demonstrate this lift and each of these studies employs a little different technique (1).  With a healthy dose of toxin, the lateral brow can raise about 4.5 mm from its original position (2)

Applying botox to the brows is a constant conversation with the muscles of the forehead and all of the muscles around the eyes. The area just below the brow, for example, is so delicate. This is also a highly desired injection site by many of my clients. If placed millimeters in a certain direction, the injection increases the risk for ptosis, a drooping of the eyelid, which will temporarily prevent the full opening of the eye. This is completely preventable, but an essential consideration that demands full precision when actualizing the desire for a more dramatic arch. Knowing the anatomy, is essential; the more I know, the more comfortable I am pushing the limit, and edging into those crevices. I’m currently in a conservative space, trying to master my understanding of the mechanics and relationships of the muscles with the injections, and the muscles with each other.

That said, a botox brow lift is one of the best parts of botox. The brow can change someone’s entire demeanor and facial expression. When done well, botox applied to the brow opens the eye and creates a full, present effect, optimizing the natural beauty. Eyebrows are often naturally asymmetrical. Botox can create symmetry between the brows, setting the stage for symmetry between the two sides of the face, and symmetry is a classical characteristic of attractiveness and beauty.

The divine proportion and the golden ratio can be found throughout nature. These concepts can also be applied as a formula for beauty, a type of mathematics for a desired aesthetic, creating the same pleasing effect of perceiving flowers and forest. I’m excited to be mirroring this wisdom of nature and applying it in practice.  We can apply this golden ratio to the brow when we treat it with botox.  As the picture shows, the distances between the brows, where it peaks, and its length can all be measured and manipulated according to the golden ratio.

However your aesthetic flows, the brows play a role and I am here to support your brow goals.  Thanks for reading.
