The maker’s of Juvederm, the most popular hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers on the US market, recently announced the highly-anticipated launch of Volux.  Volux is unique because it is the first and only FDA-approved HA filler for improving lost definition of the jawline and chin.

Juvederm now has six different types of HA fillers (in the US), each differing in their thickness and flexibility.  Which product we use is based on your goals and individual skin type.  Juvederm Volux is the thickest of the Juvederm fillers and has proven to me at being wonderful for adding structure and definition.

As we mature, anatomical changes occur that leave the transition between the neck and jawline less defined.  Prior to each treatment we perform a full face assessment because it’s prudent to start with the top of the face and work our way down.  What we do above affects below, and potentially leads to less product being required below. If we decide that adding structure to the chin and jawline is for you, we confirm candidacy with a medical history and treat.

Juvederm Volux results last one to two years. As with most medical procedures, there are risks involved.  Most commonly, bruising and swelling.  Being a thick product, the risk for lumps and bumps exist however these typically self-resolve in time.  More serious adverse events can occur with dermal filler treatments, however they are rare.  Downtime is minimal and 24 hours of social downtime is recommended.  Avoid scheduling your injection within two weeks of proximity to a big event.

The patient pictured above worked with me to add balance and definition to the lower face. Our goal was to strengthen the transition between his jaw and neck, adding a more masculine quality, as well as emphasizing support for the chin area. We used three syringes of Volux, one along each jawline and one at the chin. We then used Voluma to support the space between the lower lip and the top of the chin. We used a combination of needle and cannula technique. These results are both subtle and impactful, and both the patient and myself loved them.

A handywoman is as good as her tools she has available. I’m so excited to have more techniques and products in my toolbox.  Products like Juvederm’s Volux expand the possibilities of aesthetic procedures designed specifically for the lower part of the face. Along with the FDA approval, we also have better training materials and support for practitioners.

Be one of the first three people to purchase two syringes of Voluma, and GET ONE SYRINGE OF VOLUX FREE! Just mention Heather’s Weekly Blog when you schedule.

Much love,
Heather
