This past weekend I took the time to reflect on my aesthetic journey over the past few years. As an exercise to update some profiles, I listed out all the training I have done as an injector. This January marks the completion of three years in practice focusing on aesthetic injectables and I feel pride, accomplishment, and excitement around my work and commitment ahead. It feels meaningful to reflect via the blog, because it is the readers here that comprise the community at the heart of my work.

Over the past three years I have engaged in 24 separate educational opportunities. These include shadowing, over-the-shoulder training, hands-on classroom training, virtual courses, cadaver courses, and conferences. This April I will attend my first international training in Amsterdam where I will learn the Fern Technique. I genuinely love to learn and study this stuff.

After my very first injectable course, I ran a Groupon campaign for Botox injections. This afforded me a lot of exposure and practice and where I met many clients that I still work with today. I offered my services through Groupon for about two years, meeting wonderful people while widening and building my skill set through education and practice. I built confidence as I received glowing reviews and was rewarded with happy clients; I found validation that I was doing good work and serving my clients in a unique way. I was new to the work and my budding expertise was encouraged!

The support I have received from Allergan (the company that makes Botox and Juvederm) cannot go unrecognized. I have been blessed with reps that have seen potential in my work and supported me through this development. The educational training and opportunities alone have been instrumental in my practice.

Throughout these early months and years, my vision was to create a well-rounded engagement  with clients and community. It’s been essential to me to stay true to my roots of medicine by continuing to always learn, study, and offer more than just the services. It is my practice to offer education, context, and information to my community about the work that I do and the treatments we seek.

Aesthetic injectables comprise an ever-growing, contemporary field that is ever-changing. This reality sings to the part of me that finds great motivation in learning and being a perpetual student. The learning process itself fascinates me, and as I look back on the journey I feel in awe of moving from a first-time learner of certain techniques to having attained proficiency and competence, and confidence with that same application.

And as we open the Heal House doors, I feel a sense of setting down physical roots and making a spacious nest from which to continue to grow. The possibilities that my tools of practice hold in the right hands - it is a mind-blowing enhancement to one’s sense of self and well-being.

I’m so excited to be a part of this awesome field and to continue my personal evolution therein, offering exciting and excellent services to my community.

Much Love,
Heather
